Following Greenleaf's Servant Leadership Framework, this training was facilitated by Dr. Danny M. Alfaras. The latter is a college lecturer and does consultancy work in the city. He is backed by Prof. F.J. Babate, the national president of the Society.
Prof. Maela Babate, RN MAN-- a clinical instructress of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University College of Nursing-- gave an inspirational message on the second night of the training where she zeroed in on the "Nurse as Listener". She dwelled on the current experience where many nurses have graduated without the basic competency of "listening" to himself/herself and the patients' needs. She challenged the participants to cultivate the long innate skill "of listening".
Aside from the training experience, the participants also received some nursing literatures from the organizers with a few prizes went to Ma. Leda Yumang, Anthony Puda and Jelyne Guadalupe.
This event was made possible by a modest funding support from Darlene Dilangalen Borromeo, a prominent New Jersey-based nurse leader. She is also a member of the Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society.
