General Santos City, November 13 - An important feature of the 1st National Nursing Research Conference was both the oral and poster presentations from young and upstart nurse researchers across the country.
The first day of the conference was a large panel of four (4) presentors.
Ms. Donna Neri, RN, MHSS who is currently the chief of the center for health research and development as well as a faculty member of the Liceo de Cagayan University presented her paper entitled, " The Intellective Variables as Predictors to Nursing Licensure Examination Performance Among March 2005 Graduates of Liceo de Cagayan University". Likewise, Ms. Neri's conference participation is made possible by a modest financial grant of Dr. Rose Constantino.
Ms. Janelle Castro, RN, MSN candidate is a faculty member of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center and spoke on the "Interpersonal Relationship Competencies of Health Care Providers as Motivators to Compliance of Patients to DOTS".
The second day of the conference proved to be equally interesting with creative poster presentations and two sets of panel oral presentations.
Davao Doctors College's Mr. Jobert Porras, RN, MAN gave a presentation on the "Lateral Transfer in the Special Areas and Efficiency Among Staff Nurses at Davao Doctors' Hospital, Davao City". Likewise, Mr. Porras' conference participation is made possible by a modest financial grant of Darlene Dilangalen Borromeo.
While Ms. Esther Boholst, RN, MAN who is currently a nurse supervisor at Mindanao Medical Center gave a presentation on the "Job Satisfaction, Work Environment and Job Performance of Nurses in Mindanao Medical Center". Ms. Boholst has been in clinical practice for close to a decade.
The incoming PNA regional governor and currently a faculty member of the College of Nursing at Liceo de Cagayan University presented his research findings on "Breastfeeding Practices Among Select Mothers at Obstetrical Ward (OB-Ward), Bukidnon Provincial Hospital, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon". Prof. Neil M. Martin, RN, MAN, MBE underscored the reality of breastfeeding practices among Filipino women.
Prof. Edgar Pangue, RN, MAN of the College of Nursing, University of San Jose Recoletos provided the opener of the creative poster presentation on "Sexual Behavior Practices and Awareness on HIV/AIDS of Men Having Sex with Men (MSM)". His poster appeared to be very elaborate and had attracted quite a number of participants. Aside from being a nurse educator, Prof. Pangue is also a fellow in epidemeology.
Another NDDU faculty member, Prof. Marilou Villegas, RN, MAN exhibited her poster entitled, "Effectiveness of BHW Training Module: Bases for Improving Primary Health Care Guide".
A special poster exhibition on the works of Prof. Rozzano Locsin, RN, MAN, Ph.D, FAAN of the Florida Atlantic University was shown through a gallery walk with Prof. Erlinda Palaganas gave a snapshot of a qualitative study presented in an innovative poster medium. Dr. Locsin is a member of the Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society, Inc.
The last panel for the day Prof. Maela Babate, RN, MAN from Notre Dame of Dadiangas University presented her paper on "Related Learning Experience (RLE) Competencies of Clinical Instructors of Notre Dame of Dadiangas University: Bases for Faculty Development Program". Prof. Babate is part of the professional secretariat volunteers.
Likewise, Prof. Rosanna Grace Belo, RN, Ed.D who is with the West Visayas State University provided a good presentation on "RESEARCH: The West Visayas State University BSN Class 2009 Experience."
