Felicilda et al receive funding for MS nurse practices research

Dr. Rhea Faye Felicilda led three other faculty members from the department of nursing at Missouri State University in a research project called “Practices, Clinical Behaviors, Clinical Decision-Making Processes, and Aspirations in Practice of Medical-Surgical Nurses.” This project recently received a grant of $49,859 from the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN).

Her team will conduct research on the current practices, clinical behaviors and decision-making processes of proficient and expert nurses. They hope this information can help set the aspiration standards for novice-to-competent medical-surgical nurses seeking to match these behaviors in their own practices and provide a basis for updating AMSN’s Scope and Standards of Practice.


Fresh from obtaining her doctorate degree at Southwestern University, Faye was inducted to the Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society in May 2011.
