“Positioning
Nurses for the Future: Advancing Excellence in Integrated Care”. This
has been the theme for the joint 2nd NUS-NUH International Nursing
Conference & 18th Singapore-Malaysia Nursing Conference held last
21-23 November 2013 at Furama Riverfront Hotel, Singapore.
The
Conference was attended by 300 Delegates from all over the world. It
was graced by Keynote Speakers coming from diverse nursing
specializations such as the Community, Education, Clinical and Hospital
Administration.
The
cost paid for Conferences like this is not worth the celebrated
Speakers, Sophisticated Venue, Delectable Lunch Buffet nor the new
friendships you create...
Because the Experience itself was more than worth it!
I
met fellow Filipino Nurses both representing the Philippines and from
other parts of the world, excelling in their chosen area of expertise.
And unexpectedly, I rubbed elbows again with A Filipino-Australian Nurse
whom I first met in February 2012, she was the speaker in a Research
Forum I have organized in the Philippines at that time. It was such a
lovely encounter with Dr. Cynthia (Cindy) Leigh!

Dr. Leigh, also a part of the BNDee (Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society), was one of the Oral Research Presenters out of 73.
I was also able to shake hands with Dr. Violeta Lopez from Singapore who is part of the organizing team of this event.
It
was such a personal and professional refining moment being selected as
one of the 57 Global Poster Research Presenters and being the only
Filipino in that track.
It
is an overwhelming challenge as depicted in the Conference Theme...From
Excellence to Excellence, it keeps on advancing. Ergo, what we have
right now is the Integrated Nursing Care at its finest... but true
excellence means that you should never stop because in your pursuit for
it, you will never really know when you have arrived- nor, if you would
really arrive at it.
So,
WHO KNOWS exactly what makes a premium nurse providing exceptional care
at any given remarkable time in your distinctive portion of the world?
No one.
For
the real quintessence of all these learning and innovations is not
Hardware…it is software and most importantly, a Heartware!
