VSU Professor wins top research award

Dr. Janet Alexis De Los Santos, an associate professor at the College of Nursing -Visayas State University, has been recently selected for the Eastern Visayas Health Research Development Consortium (EVRDC) Distinguished Health Researcher award. 



Dr. Janet Alexis is also a faculty researcher designated as the Research Coordinator and Chair of the Ethics Committee of the College of Nursing -Visayas State University. She is a well-respected nurse researcher and has produced several articles published in high-impact journals, and has received national and international awards in her research presentations. She holds membership in many professional nursing organizations including the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Philippine Nurses Association, Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society, among others.  

The EVHRDC Awards are presented to researchers in Region 8 to recognize significant contributions to knowledge related to health.  

She said: “I feel so thankful and blessed that the judges elevated me to this level. Being a recipient of the regions' first Distinguished Health Researcher award is an honor and a complete morale booster. All the hard work and effort we put into the things we love is validated by recognitions such as this. My heart is full.” 

Rudolf Cymorr Kirby Martinez, Ph.D., research director of the Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Caring and Health Sciences, said: “This award is recognition of Dr. Janet’s achievements and highlights the growing impact and success of her university in delivering health research that benefits stakeholders in the region and the country.”
