Darlene Dilangalen-Borromeo, RN, FACODNA, exemplifies dedication and passion in both nursing and community service. Her journey began in Manila, where she graduated from Marian College (now General Emilio Aguinaldo College). In 1980, she moved to New York, where she specialized in gerontological, psychiatric, and mental health nursing, rising to the role of administrator.
For over twenty years, Darlene served in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit at St. Clare’s Health System in Denville, New Jersey. As Operations Manager, she was instrumental in ensuring the facility’s efficient operation and maintaining exceptional patient care standards. Even in retirement, her commitment to nursing persists; she works part-time in the Psychiatric Emergency Services unit, evaluating and supporting mental health patients.
Darlene's contributions extend beyond her nursing career. She is a board member of Kinding Sindaw, an NYC-based nonprofit dance theater company that celebrates indigenous traditions and Filipino American culture. Her cultural involvement reflects her pride in her heritage and dedication to its preservation.
Known affectionately as "Bai Darlene," she holds an esteemed status as a descendant of the powerful rulers of Rajah Buayan in Maguindanao. This title highlights her respected position within her community and her commitment to her cultural roots. Additionally, Darlene serves as the liaison for the Sisterhood ties between Jersey City, NJ, and General Santos City, fostering connections and promoting cultural exchange.
